Reversi, Four in a Row and Checkers: three 2 player board games in one app. Play against the computer at the strength you like, or hand the phone back and forth with a friend sitting next to you.
All three are classic board games with plain rules and large boards, and none of them needs an internet connection.
Reversi
- Place a disc so that it traps a line of the other colour; every trapped disc turns over
- Possible moves are marked on the board (you can switch this off)
- A player with no move passes automatically, and the game ends when neither side can move
Four in a row
- Drop discs into seven columns and line up four across, up and down or diagonally
- Tap anywhere in a column to drop a disc there
- A full board without a line of four is a draw
Checkers
- English rules on an 8 x 8 board: captures are compulsory, multi-jumps are taken in one move, and pieces that reach the far row are crowned
- Tap a piece and then its square; for a long jump, tap each landing square or just the last one
- Optional "confirm moves" setting: tap the last square twice before a move is made
- A game is drawn after 40 moves each without a capture or a plain piece moving
Play against the computer
- Easy looks a move or two ahead and sometimes plays loosely, so you can learn and win
- Medium looks a few moves ahead
- Hard thinks for up to about a second per move and is a real challenge
- Choose your colour, which also decides who moves first
Play with a friend
This is where 2 player board games work best: two people, one phone. Take turns on the same board; take-backs are unlimited.
Help when you want it
- Take back: one free take-back in every game against the phone
- Hint: a strong move worked out by the phone for whoever is to play, once per game for free
- More take-backs and hints are available if you choose to watch a short video
Your games and results
- Every game is saved after each move: leave whenever you like and continue later
- Statistics for each game and strength: wins, losses, draws, your current win streak and your best one
- Resign at any time if a game is lost
Comfortable to play
- Large boards that use the whole width of the phone, also on small screens and when the phone is turned
- Smooth move animations (switched off when your phone asks for reduced motion)
- Light and dark themes and optional vibration; the app makes no sounds
- Screen reader support: every square and column has a spoken description, and the phone's moves are read out
Offline, no account, no sign-up
Play Reversi offline on a flight, or checkers offline with a friend on a long train ride: the 2 player board games and the computer opponent all run on the phone without an internet connection (ads need one). Your statistics and saved games stay on your phone.
Board Classics is free and contains ads: a banner on the home screen, the statistics and the result screen, and an occasional full-screen ad after a finished game when you choose "Play again" or "Home". There are never ads on the board while you play, and videos only play if you choose to watch one for an extra take-back or hint.
